Larry
Pritchard’s artistry is inventive, expressive and energetic.
Combining abstraction with representation, realism with surrealism,
contemporary color with classical line, Pritchard uses style and
media not only as tools for communication and expression, but also
as a means of exploration and experimentation. Trained in classical
drawing and painting, Pritchard may offer a hint of realism to afford
the viewer a recognizable foundation from which to appreciate his
art, but he prefers to evoke emotions, hint at connections and contradictions,
and inspire inquisitiveness. Taking full advantage of his experiences
as an anthropologist, outdoorsman, martial artist, musician, and
filmmaker, Pritchard’s persistent use of layered textures,
dynamic imagery, and diverse subject matter defy categorization
yet point to a body of work that is at once authentic and peculiar. |
